A Book Review of "San Salvador Comunidad La Pedrera" by Maria Isabel Garcia-Beltruta, A Story of Childhood

This is a fun little book that I am very impressed with. This is also a quick read, so you don't have to sit around for hours trying to find something interesting to read. There are some sections of this book where there is some repetition, but it is still very fast paced.

The story is about a boy in San Salvador who is called Don Miguel. His parents were separated when he was a toddler and his father ran off with a woman called Beatriz. He eventually goes to live with her family but she does not treat him well and treats his father poorly. One day, a boy called Mario comes to visit his dad and Beatriz and they bond. However, when Mario goes off to the war, the two families come to blows.

When Don Miguel finds out that Mario is a boy, he doesn't like that. He wants to be a girl, but Mario isn't convinced so he runs away with some of his friends. One of his friends, Jose, starts following Don Miguel and one day he meets a man called Ramiro who is a member of the Comunidad.

It is important to know that San Salvador is a South American country and many of the characters have names that start with "San" instead of with Latin-sounding ones. This is just an easy thing to do as many countries are the same. However, it makes the book a bit more difficult to understand and you will need a little more explanation on how things work in this country. This is something that I am glad I did because it gave me a little more understanding on how things work in this part of the world.

This book is about a boy named Don Miguel, who is a boy who lives in San Santa Cruz. It is about a boy who has friends who help him through many of the difficult times in his life. This is about a boy who grows up and eventually becomes a woman and ends up helping those in poverty.

This is a quick and fun read. It is written in Spanish and translated in the beginning so if you are not used to reading in English, then you can pick this book up right away. and enjoy it.
